Las Vegas is known for many things, but one of the most well-known is its nightlife. That’s why I was surprised to find out that Las Vegas, although it has become somewhat of a haven for LGBT people in recent years, still has an exclusionary gay community.

Unlike cities like Seattle or New York, Las Vegas doesn’t have much in terms of gay venues or places to go. The City also doesn’t have any lesbian bars where bi women are welcomed. This makes taking a break from binge drinking and partying difficult for those who identify as lesbians, queer people of color and transgender individuals.

For a lot of LGBT people, this leaves them with the options of ‘going gay’ in a city that is not at all LGBT-friendly or going home.

The new year brings with it a number of new clubs and venues. Here are some new Vegas nights to check out:

Tuesday Nite Social Football League Bar : The Monopoly Bar hosts a weekly “Tuesday Nite Social Football League” party where guests get the opportunity to win coveted weekly tickets for the legendary Las Vegas nightlife. There are weekly prizes for best costumes, most creative signs and most spirited cheers. The bar also has half-off bottles of champagne and $5 drink specials.

Wednesday’s Power Hour at Onda Ristorante : Every Wednesday night, Onda Ristorante offers an ultra-affordable “Power Hour” promotion that features $4 glasses of wine, cocktails and beer.

Saturday Night Drag Show + Brunch : Every Saturday, Project X Las Vegas puts on a drag show featuring some of the city’s hottest gay male performers. The show is followed by a bottomless brunch with your choice of mimosas or Bloody Marys for $25.

Tuesday Night at Stud Bar : Las Vegas’ only gay male locker room bar presents an ‘After Hour’ party with a “Back Room” party atmosphere.

Wednesday Night at The Link : Every Wednesday night, The Link presents a one-of-a-kind LGBT burlesque show called “Tales of Sin.” The theme to the show changes weekly, but the social vibe remains the same. This month’s theme was “What Happens in Vegas Stays in Vegas,” and it featured sexy performances by several different acts. After the show, guests enjoyed complimentary drinks in their surroundings.

Thursday Night at Light: Light Las Vegas is a modern dance club, and every Thursday night, it hosts a drag show called “Trannyshack.” The drag revue features performances from some of the drag world’s biggest stars. In addition to the drag show, guests can enjoy Happy Hour specials on cocktails and drinks from 9-11 p.m.

Saturday Night at Amnesia : Every Saturday night, Amnesia presents a gay-themed night featuring a drag show, burlesque performances and a variety of DJs. The house stays open until 5 a.m.

Saturday Night at The Ram: Ram Las Vegas hosts a drag show every Saturday night called “Super Drag Show.” Along with drag performances, there are plenty of drink specials and no cover charge.

Sunday Night at Rumor : Rumor Las Vegas is a line dance club that puts on an amazing open-bar party every Sunday night. Guests can enjoy $5 house drinks and $4 wells all night long. The party features live music by several different bands, as well as games like shuffleboard, pool and foosball.
